Camerons Smoker also doubles as a steamer, so you really get two great cookers in one product.

Camerons Stovetop Smoker works well with all meat, seafood, and poultry dishes and it transforms ordinary vegetables into delicious main courses! Large items like turkeys or hams can be smoked as well by simply making an aluminum foil tent to cover the item when you cook it, instead of using the smoker lid.

    I have had one of these for over 10 years now, and it has become part of the family. This little smoker is the only way that I have found to cook pork chops and chicken, and assure that they stay tender and juicy. I never cook fish, particularly salmon, any other way. If you pay attention to the heat, keep it lower than you would expect, and don’t get in a hurry, your patience will be rewarded.

    Superb!!! We’ve had our Cameron smoker so long that if it had a serial number it would be in Roman numerals. We recommend calibrating a new one by putting an oven thermometer in it (with no food) and leave it for 30 minutes at various burner settings so you will know exactly what the cooking temperature will be. We smoke everything from just roasting vegetables to perfect pork loins (with a meat thermometer) to mouth-watering salmon fillets to out-of-this-world buttermilk-brined chicken breasts to a whole, small, dressing-stuffed turkey tucked under a foil “tent”.

The condo smells great when I use it, even though very little smoke escapes from the unit.     This little gem should be voted BEST new kitchen toy of 2013! It’s a pleasure to use, and sooo easy to set up. It puts a nice little smoke on salmon steaks, chicken wings, and veggies. I do own a lg smoker, but smoking in that can be an all day process. For a kick of smoke on a cold winter day (in less then 45 min) this is THEEEEE way to go! We LOVE this thing, and you better believe it will be in the camper when we take off next summer.

    This little gem BLEW US AWAY! I honestly didn’t believe it could be THIS SIMPLE to use/clean. We smoked salmon steaks on it tonight, and with just 22 min on the steaks (med heat on the stove) they were smoked AND cooked to total perfection!! Cleaning was easy too! It puffed out tiny wisps of smoke, but with the stove fan running it cleared the air with no problems.

    We could not be MORE PLEASED WITH THIS PURCHASE!! I can’t wait to have some BBQ “THROW DOWNS” the next time we go camping. There are also quite a few good youtube videos to watch for more ideas. I’ll doing wings by the weekend!! Can’t WAIT!! Wish this rating system went to EXCELLENT because that’s what we would be selecting!

    Love my Cameron and always recommend it to friends that love smoked foods. I have converted my kids to enjoying smoked ribs with dry rub instead of “killing” the smoke with sweet commercial sauces. Just made a pound of hickory smoked salt and it is outstanding. A little smoked salt on stir fried vegetables is outstanding.
    *Follow the instructions, it only takes a little of the wood “chips” to get full flavor.
    *Making an aluminum foil tent is easy and great way to smoke larger pieces
    * It will not replace your big smoker but instead of an 8 hour smoke, you get very excellent smokey results in 15 to 40 minutes with ease.
    *Great for those of us in condos and apartments that love smoked foods.
    *Picked up a bag of hickory splinters cheap and they are as excellent as the Cameron chips
    You will love it!

    We’ve been using this smoker since 2008, still using the original with no problems.

    We have a Samsung glass-top range and it works well–but do check with your range manufacturer before using this or any other over-sized utensil on your expensive cook top.

    Some smoke does escape while cooking, but dissipates quickly using the kitchen exhaust fan (and, we happen to enjoy the smell of wood smoke).

    Cleanup is a snap if you line the cooking tray with foil.

    We do woodworking, so we make our own wood-chips on our planer. We’ve come up with some fun and tasty combinations of smoke flavor for our meats.

    This is a much used tool in our kitchen.

    I bought my Cameron smoker in the late ’80s and am still using it! We’ve switched to using it outside on the gas grill on medium and it hasn’t warped at all. I love making smoked tofu, mushrooms and asparagus with it as well as fish and meat. Even my husband, who was leery when I first pulled it out (it pre-dates him), is a convert. We only use the full sized smoker to do turkeys – the Cameron can do the rest! The bottom pan has also served me well as a roaster and bain-marie when my kitchen was small and I was poor and my pans needed to multitask. I can’t recommend this smoker enough!

    This is a great item. I use it all the time, it’s totally changed the way I cook and eat. Fish, chicken, meat, I’ve even smoked almonds and sea salt in it. The latest is smoked tomatoes to make delicious salsa and gazpacho. If you want the low fat benefits of chicken sausages but don’t like the blah flavor…smoke ’em! They’re transformed into deliciousness.

    OK, so this is totally interesting. I’m considering buying this. I do have few questions though. Can you only use it with their wood chips? is that what makes it work so well? what if you used regular wood chips that you buy in any store? would that not work at all? Also, is it easy to clean, or does it get all “gunked out” over time? Seems like it would go in the dishwasher, but I wonder if it still would be looking like the old oven trays over time… 🙂 I do have a glass top stove, so I’d probably consider using it in the oven instead. Is that much different? Thanks in advance!

    Finally got around to buying one of these. I did not remotely imagine how great a product this would turn out to be! I own every top of the line cooking product…le creuset, Calphalons, All Clad, copper Mauviels…this pan comes close to sharing the top of the list. It is very easy to use, there’s really no need to reinvent the smoking wheel, simply use the directions suggested on the user guide provided. I would experiment with the finishing touches such as how much time to place food under the broiler or in a grill after the smoking process to get the desired charring, etc. Almost as important is the ceaning process for me. Here, I was expecting the worst since we are talking about smoke and direct dry heat for a couple hours straight. Then, placing the tray under a broiler. Pleasantly, it took on hardly any soots or discoloration and washed up without really any scrubbing! With the use of some aluminum foil to line the drip tray…it hardly needed washing! Thank you.

    I was given a Cameron Stove-top Smoker for Christmas a few years ago and my only regret is waiting so long to leave a review. I love this smoker. I have used it for just about every type of meat imaginable (and as a hunter, I mean imaginable). I love the convenience for use and clean-up. I have used it in the oven, on the grill and on a glass-top stove with no problems. I tend to wrap the drip tray with foil which makes it easy to clean. Excellent product that I have recommended to all of my friends.

    Ran into this on Amazon. I remembered seeing it used on TV by Julia Child and Frugal Gourmet in the 70s and 80s. Figured it must be good if it was still around. I had no idea how good. Our first use was baby back ribs. I pride myself on being a good (really good)home chef. I have never come close to the juicy, tender, lightly smoked (followed the directions)this smoker produced. Since then, chicken wings, pork chops, and trout (applewood)have come out just as well.

    Great product! I’ve had one for several years and use it on a gas cooktop. Here are two tips.

    1. I drilled a small hole in the cover about 1″ from the edge into which I can insert my Taylor digital thermometer. I preheat the pan and carefully adjust the gas burner setting to get a 350degF internal temperature before adding the wood chips and food.

    2. I use 4 small spring clamps on the corners to totally seal the lid.

    I’ve had my Cameron smoker for quite a few years and I use it at least, twice a month. I am 80 years young and this is so easy. I got a single burner electric coil at Wal-Mart and that’s my heat source. The only change I’ve made is that I cover the removable tray with aluminum foil and spray the grating with Pam. Clean up is a cinch which I do outside after it’s cooled off. I just toss the cold ashes into the grass, take off and dispose if the foil and easily wash off the grate and top. I really love it and am ordering one with different small containers of chips for my niece and nephew for their birthday and anniversary.

    I have contemplated buying one of these for a looooong time and now could kick myself for waiting so long!! I LOVE this smoker!
